Street Corner Plays & Rallies:

Street Corner Plays (Nukkad Nataks) especially focusing upon the theme of enrolling and educating girl children (especially prepared by the students of existing Remedial Centres, SHG women members, teachers of learning centers and community members etc) were staged at project areas, which were witnessed by hundreds of community people when required and stayed repeateedly a per the requirements.

Around 300 prospective learners, learners of remedial centers, women SHG members, community leaders / influentials and activists having placards in their hands with the slogans "Aao School Chalen", "Naya Samaj Banana Hai, Sabko Shikshit Banana Hai", "Ab Hum Nahin Manenge, Hum Sab School Jayenge",,"Samaj ko Jagana Hai, Sabko Sakchar Banana Hai", "Padhne Se Jo Katraiga, Jeevan Bhar Pachhtayega" etc. took out rallies in the area. Both these activities were appreciated by the community and paved the way for effective community participation. In order to boost the morale, these rallies are taken into especially during dakhila abhiyan.

Capacity Building of the Teachers

In order to enhance the teaching skills of the teachers and as a part of capacity building for all the teachers, time to time internal & external trainings are organized. As the teachers are the key functionaries who remain in constant touch with the children and their parents as well as the community, the programme is basically meant to upgrade their existing teaching skills and communication skills at the onset. Secondly, it is a sort of booster programme for the existing ongoing programme. The teachers while implementing the programme since inception had confronted with a number of field related problems which sought to he sorted out. Efforts

are made to shortlist the problems and suggest probable solutions in the larger interest of the programmme. The practical and living examples unanimously discussed, provided insights into running the centres quite effectively, especially focuss was given on motivation, regular attendance of children and their punctuality and learning interest. Ensuring community participation, ownership and making conducive environment in the community, were discussed at length. The programme not only provided a forum for over all discussion and seeking solutions but also boosted the morale and their commitment to the cause.

Multi Grade and Multi Level (MGML) and Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Training

Mrs. Vinita Sinha, Director Operations and Mrs. Shivani Prasad, Project Coordinator ISF conducted a one day Training-cum-Workshop. It was attended by all the Teachers, Subject Experts and Project Personnel (Coordinator and Supervisor). The Resource Persons presented detailed and interesting strategies for the transaction of specific subjects. It was conducted in a workshop mode and all the participants contributed in their own ways and made the entire TLM & MGML programme quite meaningful.

Organization of Community Meetings:

All the Teachers, Coordinator and MCD Teachers who are involved in the programme (where streamlined children are admitted) participate in specially organized bimonthly community meetings. Basti Education Committee members play significant and decisive roles during all such meetings.
